Know what’s really interesting? … Timing.
A tight pass can be thrown by a quarterback straight to its intended mark but will still be left incomplete if the timing of the receiver is off. A 100m sprint isn’t proficiently ran if the timing from the blocks is off. A musical masterpiece isn’t a masterpiece if the timing of the strings is off. And God’s creation doesn’t gel if the timing is off. We must wait until His timing brings it to pass to fully experience all of its glory.
I was talking with a friend the other day who passively said something that took me back a little. This friend of mine was talking about how they are a different person now than they were years ago. Totally makes sense, right? Probably all of us are. But as I pondered the statement, it made me think about who this friend of mine was years ago and who this friend is now. And I remember thinking to myself, “I’m so grateful you aren’t the same person you were years ago. I wouldn’t have liked and enjoyed that person the way I like and enjoy the person you are now.”
Sometimes in our lives we think we are making the calls, the masters of our universe. This must be comical for Heavenly Father to witness, me thinking I am running the show, when clearly, I am not. It’s possible that we might be resisting it, that’s true, but definitely, we are not leading it.
Timing, such a special treasure. Another gift from God.
Forever grateful.
