Thoughts from General Conference

Our greatest happiness is found when we are able to turn our will over to the Lord and try to align with His will for us. To me, understanding this inspires me to strive to live my best self at all times. I don’t know what the Lord’s will is for me most of the time, and I never know how my life will suddenly change as part of His will and design for me, so living my life to the fullest without regret now is important to me.

Accepting His will for us equals peace in our lives. We can have peace under any circumstance. The atonement of Jesus Christ can make all things/people whole. I have learned so much about this over the past few years.

President Uchtdorf’s message of focusing on one thing (loving God and God’s children) makes our lives manageable as we go about all of our other tasks. This makes so so so much sense to me and is a message that the world needs to understand, especially in our hectic times.

I cried with Elder Rasband as he spoke of his moment of questioning whether or not to close his remarks in Christ’s name at the religion conference in Italy. I have known those moments of trial between really standing up for what you believe and standing as a witness of Jesus Christ or easing our beliefs to merge a little with those of other beliefs. It is a learning moment, for sure.

One touching moment was watching President Nelson exit the conference center. The cameras were turned so you could see the congregation while President Nelson made his way out, and the reverence everyone held for him as he exited was tender to me. I had never seen that before. It was special.

I love general conference so much and am forever grateful it is available to me.
