The Miracles in the Atonement of Jesus Christ

During general conference, we were told we would see miracles in our day. Tonight I was reminded of the miracles the Atonement of Jesus Christ brings into our lives.

As my ten year old daughter sat with swollen tear-filled eyes tonight at bedtime while I was tucking her in, she told me “these are the happiest times of my life.” She continued to explain that she was so “depressed and sad” all through being 7 to 9 years old, but then, she went on the explain, I made her feel “special”. I didn’t understand completely what her words meant, but my mind and heart immediately went to understanding this was the atonement of Jesus Christ at work.

I have prayed and prayed and pleaded and pleaded with the Lord that He would fill the holes that a divorced life would create within my children, things that I couldn’t fix or prevent. It has been my deepest desire, above all else, for many years now. As my daughter told me of her healing, I knew that the atonement of Jesus Christ has bridged the gaps in her life. A plea from me, a miracle through Him.

What a precious tender mercy it is that the atonement of Jesus Christ extends into the lives of others, those who are not directly seeking its strength even, on behalf of us who plead for it. Our Savior loves us deeply! Way beyond our understanding. I am humbled and grateful.
