Today was Sidney’s birthday. She’s 17, but more like 23. She’s very mature and independent for her age. I love that about her. She has vision and works hard towards it, but practices patience and perspective at the same time. She is so full of potential!
I came up with my 17 things I love about her easily. Here they are:
- She loves to laugh.
- She is self-motivated.
- Her sense of style is dope. It’s a natural thing for her, which I admire, because style never was my thing.
- She is the most creative problem solver I know. If I can’t figure something out, I ask her. Answers come naturally to her – it’s definitely a gift from God. She just sees things.
- She and I think enough alike that we can often read each other’s minds.
- She is patient and forgiving with me, but will let me know when I’m crossing lines with her.
- She tries.
- She sets goals for herself, like not drinking carbonated drinks.
- She does amazing hair. Definitely not my talent.
- I have NEVER had to get after her about school work ever, and she pulls 4.0s. Dang, I love that!
- She likes gansta music.
- I love her quirky sense of humor. She cracks me up.
- She rolls with the punches and tries to keep a good attitude through it all.
- She races me and wins sometimes.
- She loves to have fun.
- She helps with her siblings when she is asked to.
- She has a mature and patient perspective on life. I love that. That gives her such an advantage over other’s in terms of growth and success.
I know this birthday was a little disappointing to her just because life is a little depressing right now for her, considering her track season was cut short and she can’t hang with her friends right now etc. But I hope she knows that she is loved. I hope she knows that I feel like the luckiest person in the world to get to have her as my daughter. I have been so blessed to have her in my life.
Forever grateful!
