Go Run Laps!

Wanna know something that has been stressing me lately? My kids! Sometimes they are stinkers. They fight and argue with each other. It is so annoying. They all think they are the boss. I try to be patient, but what I really want to do is make them work, work so hard that there is no room for arguing. This is where a coach would make someone run laps until he or she is puking. Maybe I need to take on mommying coach style and make them run laps or do push ups? Ha ha. They would probably actually enjoy that, they like that kind of stuff.

In all seriousness, though, I hate seeing my kids be cruel to each other. An argument is one thing, but when they are unkind or demeaning to each other, it breaks my heart. Don’t they know that they are family? Don’t they know that they need to have each others’ back in this world? That sometimes there won’t be anyone else for them? They really should be kind to each other.

I rack my brain trying to find solutions, but my instinct really does tell me they need to work more. We need to work more – together, as a family. We need to work more, and we need to serve more. In Clayton Christensen’s “Why I Belong and Why I Believe” publication, he mentions that one of his and his wife’s goals for their kids was to teach them how to love work, so they would work together and make it fun. This is my new focus, my new mommy quest, to create work and service opportunities for my children and then figure out how to help them love it and love the people they serve. I believe this will soften their hearts toward each other. Wish me luck!
