I was reading the Book of Mormon with my kids earlier today. We read the last chapter in Ether where Coriantumr finally repents genuinely of his selfishness and pride and pleads for his people to be saved, but it is too late because so much hate and anger has built up in the hearts of the people over time that they just continue to kill each other until there are none left except Coriantumr (as prophesied) and Ether. We talked about the verse that says that Satan had full power over them and they were given up to the blindness of their minds. We talked about how hate and anger can make you do dumb things that aren’t reasonable and don’t make any sense (like killing each other for years and years). When reading and talking about this, Coltrin commented, “That’s so sad!” and tears welled up in his eyes. His heart is so pure. I love that he feels the Book of Mormon and has compassion. That means the Book of Mormon will be a great teaching tool for him throughout his life if he will use it. I love that kid!
Forever grateful!
