Even In small Things

This is a silly thing to write about, but testimony building for me just the same. So I started a new class this week. I don’t yet know how difficult or demanding it is going to be, or how lenient the professor will be with grading etc. So I started stressing the assignment that is due this week, especially since I really only have 1 day to dive into the material and put it all together. I have read some of the information about the assignment etc but only have a minute here and a minute there this week.

I could feel the panic start to rise in me, so much so that I caught myself deep breathing to release some of it. When I begin to really go into a panic, I bounce up and down or side to side. I can’t hold still. As I “bounced” in the shower on the verge of a breakdown, wondering how in the world I was going to get thru this week, I began half talking to myself, half praying. I told Heavenly Father that I knew He could do anything, that He knows all things, and asked if He would help me better understand the material I’m learning in more meaningful ways. As I continued to bounce and half talk, half pray aloud, I realized that I was talking myself through the answer to one of the questions for my assignment. The answers were literally coming out of my mouth and I was piecing it all together. It happened so casually that I almost didn’t even notice it, and it seriously wasn’t even 30 seconds prior that I offered that simple prayer asking for help.

I rushed through my shower trying to hang on to all of the pieces of the problem long enough to get them down on paper. My heart filled with a humble gratitude and love as I noted the answers. My Heavenly Father does hear my prayers – even the silly little ones coming from His panicked daughter in the shower. I could have easily missed it had I not stopped and slowed down enough to hear what was being said. Life can move oh so fast. We must slow down and make time to listen and hear what He is saying to us in our lives.

Forever grateful that He is there.
