I’m so tired, but I want to write this. While driving home tonight, I stopped at the Utah/Nevada, turned my car off, and stepped outside into the dark, dark night. Stars were everywhere! They stretched from one horizon to the other. No moon was anywhere in sight. There were no car lights. No city lights. Nothing. Just pitch black and twinkling stars, so many of them. If you have never experienced a starry night like that in pitch darkness … YOU HAVE TO! It brought me to tears.
Like any normal human being would at this time, I pulled out my phone, opened snapchat and began videoing. I zoomed in as close as I could on those stars. Or so I thought. The video showed little balls of life everywhere, actively zigzagging and darting around on the screen. It was amazing! Beautifully vibrant and alive! Breathtaking.
After taking it all in, I continued down the road towards home. I pondered the stars and how amazing God and the Savior really are in their creations. How beautiful they can make everything. And then it hit me … When I opened snapchat, I didn’t flip the camera. That video wasn’t of the stars, it was of me! It was just so dark I couldn’t tell. Zoomed in so very close, I was the vibrant ball of life, the amazing and beautiful creation. It was my creation actively darting and zigzagging around on the screen.
Isn’t it true (and humbling) that our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, put their very best into creating us? We are their very best creations possible! Within us, holding us together are all of the very best materials, intelligences, and mysteries they could muster up. I stood there in the vast darkness weeping at the beauty of the stars, amazed at their majesty. But those stars are only a small piece of what the Lords can create. We, God’s children, are His masterpiece. Remember this next time you doubt yourself or look in the mirror with disappointment … YOU are built from His very best. Everything you will ever need or could ever hope for is already a part of you. He built you to be everything you will need to be. Trust who you are. Trust Him. And keep trying. Success is already within you.
Forever grateful!
