I keep seeing a reference in my scripture readings:
“He prepared a way…”
“Going before them …”
“I will prepare the way before you…”
Those were all referenced within two chapters of the Book of Mormon. I think it’s important to remember that the Savior, Jesus Christ, has walked our paths before us. That is exactly what He did when He descended below all and atoned for us, He walked our paths and made it through all of it so we would know that we could too. It makes me think of a time when I was fishing. . .
I like to find the hidden holes on a creek or river – that is my favorite fishing to do. However, those holes are hidden for a reason and that’s usually because they aren’t easily accessible. One time out fishing with my kiddos along a little creek, I had pushed my way through some thick shrub to get to a deep hole on a bend of the creek. As I was there fishing, I could hear one of my kids calling for me, looking for me. I responded and told them to come to me. They were trying but were intimidated by the thick brush. I continued to talk them through it, saying that if they just keep moving forward the brush will break open into a clearing just a couple feet in. I encouraged them that I had just gone through it and they would be okay if they just keep pushing through it one little step at a time. Eventually she did push through into the opening and was able to fish near me.
The Savior has walked our paths and pushed through the shrubs in our way, and He came out alright. We can too. We aren’t walking alone.
Forever grateful!
