There are so many ways the Lord lets us know that He is aware of us and loves us. In Sacrament meeting today, the speaker, Brother Mickelson told of how he decided to go on a mission. His father wasn’t an active member and wasn’t likely to support his decision to go. His father was, however, a big fan of Germany and Germany’s history. So Bro. Mickelson told his father that wanted to go to Germany on his mission. He had figured this was the most likely way to get his father to support him in this desire. His father did say that if he went to Germany, then he would support him.
Bro. Mickelson went on to explain that his father didn’t understand that mission calls weren’t chosen by the missionary, that his father wasn’t aware that he didn’t actually get to pick where he went.
The day came when he finally got his call. He was home alone and opened it all by himself. There on the page was a call to Germany. Bro. Mickelson knew in that instant the Lord knew him, was aware of his life and needs, and loved him dearly. What a mercy.
I believe the Lord does this for all of us. We just need to take the time to be aware and open and willing to simply see it in our lives. His love for us is so great. His mercy is endless.
I know I have seen these sweet little mercies in my life in many ways. From prayers answered from when I was young, to callings offered, to church beginning to come back to normalish after COVID. The Lord knows our sufferings. He knows our limits. His rescuing arm is outstretched.
Forever grateful.
