I see God’s hand in my life often. I know that it is there for all of us to see in our lives if we will choose to see it. There are so many incidences that range from small to extremely significant where I’ve pondered His role in it all. Sometimes I know that He had a role in it, the Spirit testifies of that to me. Sometimes, I don’t know it, but I wonder. Someday we will all get to see those moments, and without a doubt, we will be overcome with love and humility at the Lord’s tender mercies in our lives. He is ever present!
One such tender mercy I am now beginning to recognize comes to me through my daughter. I just finished reading a letter she had written to me while she was traveling home from trek. She testified to me of the Spirit of her experience and told me of her inspiration and desire to do missionary and temple work for the purpose of gathering Zion and preparing for the Second Coming.
About a month ago she had attended the temple with her ward and done baptisms for the dead. While she was there, she had learned about different volunteer opportunities at the temple. She had vaguely mentioned them to me at one point, but one day while I was in her bedroom, I found a sticky note that read, “Ask Mom about volunteering at the temple!” and she drew a temple on the note. I took that sticky note and stuck it to the nightstand in my bedroom so I could read it everyday.
These incidences might seem like normal everyday life to some people. But as I step back and look at my life and my potential directions in life, I recognize that she is an angel sent to me to help guide me at a time when I am weak and easily confused. She helps me keep my focus on what is important and necessary. She doesn’t know it, but she, literally, is saving me.
I am so grateful that my daughter is courageous, that she is humble and open to the promptings of the Spirit. She had to put herself in very scary and uncomfortable situations to be here for me. She had to move in a direction that was difficult for her, one she didn’t understand, but she followed the Spirit anyway and acted. I will be forever grateful for her willingness to be an instrument in the Lord’s hand on my behalf. I easily rank her among the great women of this world, up there with Mother Eve. I am grateful for the Lord orchestrating another tender mercy in my life. His love is beyond measure!
