I’m touched by the love people have for my daughter. She has a way (an intentional way) of making people feel recognized and valued. My heart swells with love for the way she has learned to get outside of herself for the benefit and welfare of others.
She is transferring schools. While I was in her school today, working through the process of withdrawing her, I learned that she had planned and prepared for her friends to take her place in always greeting the secretary every morning and making sure someone tells her goodbye at the end of the day. That was a job Anja had taken on for herself, and now that she will be gone, she has planned to make sure the secretary knows she is cared for.
I love that she recognizes the worth in an individual. And even better, that she is brave enough and willing to actually act on what she knows. That is where she is able to get outside of herself for the benefit of someone else. That skill, alone, will take her places in life many people will never venture. It unlocks potential. She, who she is, fills this mama full of love and happiness. Couldn’t be more proud of her.
