My Soul Delighteth!

‘My soul delighteth…’ a phrase Jacob repeats several times in 2 Nephi 11. I love his energy and passion! I love the happy he has for knowledge. His soul delighteth. It delighteth in the words of Isaiah.  It delighteth twice in proving the truth to his people, and then it continues to delighteth in covenants made by God and his forefathers. It delighteth in the Lord’s grace, justice, power and mercy.

What does your soul delighteth in?

Mine delighteths (that’s just fun to say, ha ha) in my children’s laughter. Always, that fills my heart.

My soul delighteth in babies! In flower gardens. In the majesty and wonder of the great outdoors.

It delighteths in teaching moments where the Spirit presides. For example, my children and I were getting ready to read from the Book of Mormon before bed the other day. My son knew I was at the very last chapter in my personal studies, so he suggested we read that all together. I was thrilled! I explained Moroni’s situation at that part of the book and told my kids of the challenge that exists to pray about it. They wanted to pray with me. So we read and then kneeled to pray. I have to admit that I was a little scared. What if they didn’t feel anything? My own faith was being put to the test. I put my fear aside and began, and of course, the warmth and love poured into my chest immediately. I was overwhelmed with a confirmation that didn’t allow me to finish that prayer without tears. I knew that my Heavenly Father wasn’t only taking care of me, but of my children as well. We discussed our feelings afterward, and my kids confirmed what I had felt. They had felt it, too. My soul delighteth in moments like these!

Forever Grateful!!!
